 Annual General Meeting


The Annual General Meeting of the Union was recently held at the Henllys G C, Beaumaris. Delegates representing all the clubs on the island re elected all the officials to serve for the coming year.

H Neville Pritchard of the Bull Bay G C will serve the second year of his two year term of Presidency and Adam Williams of the Henllys club will continue as County team Captain. Randall Richards, also from of Henllys club, continues as junior organiser.

Ian Furlong and Gareth Jones, both from the Bull Bay G C, continue as treasurer and secretary respectively.

After nearly a quarter of a century Billy Davies of the Holyhead G C retired as Rawlinson Shield organiser and he was presented with a suitably engraved tankard to commemorate the event. Henllys G C's John Davies will undertake duties relating to the Rawlinson shield for the coming season.

The Union agreed to take on responsibility for the organisation of the popular inter club team competition for the Dr Lowe Shield - the opening round is listed for the Baron Hill G C on Saturday, April 13th.

Following the meeting delegates enjoyed an excellent meal provided by the Henllys G C's catering team and Mike Bryant (St Deiniol G C) President elect of G U W addressed the gathering.

 Away Teams Successful


In the opening series of matches in the 2018 - 19 Winter Scratch League both sides playing away from home were successful.

Henllys GC won by a 3.5 to 1.5 margin at Holyhead GC and Bull Bay GC  beat Anglesey GC 3 -2 at Rhosneigr.

 Seniors Championship


Seventy nine members competed in the annual Seniors County Championship which was played recently at the Anglesey G C Rhosneigr.

The overall winner and winner of Category 1 (age 55 to 60) was host club member Alfie Jones with a score of 92 - 26 -- 66. Andy Cave of the Holyhead G C scored 74 to win the best gross prize and Holyhead G C 's B team won the team championship with a total of 353.

 County Match Play Championship


In the 18 hole final of the scratch event played at the Anglesey G C Rhosneigr Sion Thomas of the Bull Bay G C beat Darren Owen of the Henllys G C by a 4 and 3 margin. The Bull Bay golfer was one up at the turn and sealed his success on the 15th hole.

 Anglesey Golf Club Capture The Rawlinson Shield


The sixth and final round of this year's inter club Seniors team competition was played at the Baron Hill Golf Club Beaumaris and host club member Alun Owen recorded the best individual score with 39 stableford points.

 County Captain Is County Champion


Adam Williams, County team Captain and a member of the host club won the County Championship (scratch) when the competition was recently played at the Henllys G C Beaumaris.

Two handicapped Williams recorded scores of 67 and 72 for a thirty six hole total of 139, two ahead of fellow club member Dewi Caughter.

Leading 36 hole championship scores were:
Adam Williams Henllys G C 67 + 72 = 139
Dewi Caughter Henllys G C 71 + 70 = 141
Jack Carter Bull Bay G C 70 + 73 = 143

The H V Roberts trophy, an 18 hole medal competition was won by Andy Tolley (Henllys G C) with a score of 77 - 11 - 66 - one ahead of fellow club member Emlyn Pritchard who recorded 73 - 6 - 67.
