Holyhead Golf Club hosted the County Seniors Championship and seventy eight golfers experienced a course in excellent condition.

Myrddin Roberts (Baron Hill G C) was the overall winner with a score of 76 - 11 - 65. Group winners were Terry Gilford (Bull Bay G C) who recorded 80 - 12 - 68 and R Trevor Williams (Anglesey G C) with a return of 90 - 21 - 69.

Paul Collins (Bull Bay G C) won the best gross category with a score of 76.

Bull Bay G C 'S A team won the team championship - their best five out of six nett scores scoring 354, one shot ahead of Baron Hill G C. Members of the winning team were:- Terry Gilford, Hywel Rees, Derek Gilbert, Paul Collins, Ken Evans and David Hart.
 

The county team, needing a win to capture the North Wales Inter Counties Championship, was beaten by a convincing 10 - 2 scoreline by Flintshire at Old Padeswood G C.

The Anglesey team lost the morning foursome 4 matches to 0 and the afternoon singles were dominated by the home county who won by 6 matches to 2. Anglesey's points were recorded by Bull Bay's Sion Thomas and Jack Carter.

The team now looks forward to the Welsh Inter Counties Championship at Borth and Ynyslas G C on September 18th.
 

After halving the morning foursome matches the Anglesey youngsters put in a spirited effort in the afternoon singles to beat their counterparts from Denbighshire 6.5 to 1.5 to achieve an overall success over the visitors by 8.5 to 3.5.

Seventeen year old Mathew Rankenhohn, junior captain at the Baron Hill G C, is the new County junior champion after an exciting finish to the 36 hole event played at the Henllys G C Beaumaris. After two rounds the new champion and Darren Owen of the host club tied on a score of 146 and a four hole play off couldn't separate the pair but Rankenhohn triumphed on the first extra hole played.
